sibling  doula

More than just a babysitter...

A Sibling Doula helps siblings understand what the big day will be like and what to expect during the arrival of their new baby sister or brother. She is attuned to your child's needs and/or anxieties and invites them into ways to navigate these new feelings.

A Sibling Doula can be the solution for your family. Many families having a new baby are without trusted local family members or a babysitter who is willing to be “on call” for an extended time while you have your new baby. She is available to care for older brothers and sisters while their parents are focused on bringing the new baby into the world.

Whether planning for a home, birth center, or hospital birth, it is much easier for everyone to meet the needs of your older children with one person being solely responsible for them. A Sibling Doula will come to your home or birthing place to care for your older children where they are most comfortable.

A Sibling Doula provides:
  • A “get-to-know-you visit” prior to the birth. I spend time with your children so as to become a familiar face, get to know one another and provide educational distractions when they need a break. Parents can stay home for this visit or take this time to get some last-minute errands completed.
  • On-call availability starting around 36 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Up to 24 hours of continuous care on The Big Day. Any additional hours are billed at the rate of $55 per hour.  I also offer immediate sibling integration support once your new baby arrives.

A Sibling Doula is also able to be present during labor and birth either in your home or at the birth center or hospital. They offer complete emotional support for your older children.
