I did something today. I went for a walk. It was hard... 🚶♀️
When you have some time to yourself, do you have to fill it with something? Something that serves a purpose to your regular life?
FOR ME, I fill it with: A solo shopping spree🛍 Grocery shopping🍎🥦 Treadmill jog-shaming🏃♀️ Social media zone out🤳 Sleep 😴💤🛏
But today was different. I was heading to the gym, in hopes that progress would be made today. However, I was not super jazzed about getting on a treadmill and doing weights.
It sounded like cleaning up a bathtub my toddler pooped in (ok, bad analogy but you get my disgust).💩🛀
On my way, I thought "Well I could stop by a park." "No, it just goes around a field, that's boring." "Ok, turn here." "Oh the Cheese Ranch walk! That's where I used to walk with my grandparents!"👵👴
As this inner monologue continued, it was hard to justify that going for a walk was a workout. 🏋️♀️ But before I could rationalize, I had arrived, started walking... And the most amazing things happened...🍾
I took beautiful photos,🏞 took in scenery I forgot about, reminisced on memories of my gma Ellen and Gpa Abe, and... I got more than what I bargained for.
It was not only a healing experience to walk the literal paths of many wiser elders 🚶♀️ but I also connected with those who have gone before me, in the literal and figurative sense. What a blessing!
But wait a minute! That's not all! 🎉 I sat by a small pond, watching the ducks 🦆🦆 and letting my creativity skim across the water as the Holy Spirit/Higher Self spoke the most tender anecdotes:
"This is a gift. Do you receive it? If you kept on walking or going to the gym, you would have missed all this that I have for you."
WOAH...how many times do we miss out on these moments that can take our breath away and reaffirm that everything is as it should be? 🌌
I was shown so much more but I want to hear from you!
How do you take time for yourself? Is it possible to drop our plans off at the store and go on an adventure? With or without kids?🤱🏼👩👧👦
